Charleston Harbor

May 12th I went to Charleston and did a circumnavigation of the harbor.  A great day of kayaking!

Then the bird sanctuary. You can see other kayakers out watching the birds.  Image

Fort Moultrie where some of the first shots of the Civil War were fired.

The Atlantic is beyond the nose of the boat…

Here we are crossing the mouth of the Harbor.

To where we were going to eat lunch beyond the tourist boat on Morris Island.

Then across to Fort Sumter

For a short tour.  We had the fort all to ourselves.

Little ole me…

Inside the fort.  Charleston in the background. Tour boat coming.  Soon the fort will be filled with people.

This is where one of our kayak group succumb to the sirens song of Fleet street landing bar and grill.

Past the Bounty…

To Drum Island for a beer.

Final crossing back to Remly’s point!  17.37 miles of kayaking.  Whew!  Under the bridge and to the right of the cranes.
